YABBA x Richmond CC

This month saw the first of our sports club partnerships as we linked up with Richmond CC!

Based at Old Deer Park in the borough of Richmond Upon Thames, Richmond are a great family club with a rich history. Richmond field 5 regular Men's teams, a Club XI and a fast growing Women's team as well as many boys and girls sides throughout the age groups.

The club have seen some very successful alumni over the years, most notable of which was the the great Aussie wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist who spent a season with Richmond back in 1989.

2021 has been a mixed bag for the club with the Saturday 1st & 2nd team currently sat mid table. Meanwhile the 3s, 4s and 5s are having a successful campaign and pushing hard for the league title! In terms of individual performances, 1st team captain Will Phillips has already passed the 500 run mark with the bat and Rashid Mustaq has notched up 450 along with 26 wickets.

However the standout performer this year has without doubt been Emily Barker who is far and away the clubs leading wicket taker with a whopping 37 wickets (already!?). A serious effort so far and we understand she's not stopping there!

Saturday 17th July saw a crunch game between Richmond's 1st XI and Shepherds Bush. A tense battle on the hottest day of the year so far ended in a dramatic draw as Richmond saw off the Shepherds Bush bowlers late in the day. Standout performer and deserved winner of the YABBA Beer Player of the Match was youngster Tanmay Thanawalla, scoring his maiden hundred for the club!

Tanmay landed himself a crate of Yabba to enjoy on the barmy summer evening that followed. Congrats on a cracking knock Tanmay, the first of many 100s we're sure!

All the best to everyone at Richmond CC for the remainder of the season. If you're a keen cricketer of any ability and fancy finding out more, give their website a visit.

We're always on the hunt for new sports club partnerships so if you're a member of a club in the SW London area give us a shout via contact@yabbabeer.co.uk
